Skating on thin Ice ;)

Sorry, no pictures!

No, we don't have real skates. we just use our boots.
for Last Fridays Afternoon, Ponigirl, Ducki and I went out to the front two pastures' Ponds.
We skated and slid across the waters surface.
The Ice was thin on one of the ponds, and as we knew it would, it Broke underneath Ducki, who was was going on her 15th skate. it had small cracks, but it just sank instead of cracking, so Ducki had time to get out without getting wetter that she needed to be. ;)
After that we headed to the Wild west,(about 100 Acres of land in back of our house, owned by our Neighbor) all the way to Crest pond. (Another of our names for a Landmark. on one side, the pond has a high crest of clay.
) but we were to cold to skate. so Ducki and I cracked the Ice by the Edge.
then, I had an Idea. I took a large Slate of ice and threw it out like a skipping stone. it crashed into a thousand pieces and flew across the surface of the Water, Sounding like tinkling Diamonds.
so we Amused our selves that way for a time.
After awhile, we went home, ready to warm our red noses and drink Hot Chocolate.

winter thoughts?

What Do you think about During winter? sure I think about snow, Ice, sledding, and that stuff.
but I find that most of my thoughts turn to summer, or spring. same thing in Summer and spring, I think about winter and fall. All that green, warm, and beautiful landscape.

this picture is one taken from Unicorn hill, owned by our neighbor and big Cow industry/rich Guy.
(we are allowed to take walks on his land, and often do. we name all the creeks and ponds, or important/interesting places.) on our walks, well, the kids' trips, we have gone farther then that little house down there. all this in the picture is the wild west, as well to the left of the picture.
A perfect place to write or draw, plenty of inspiration.

Our house, it looks So much better in the Summer.

Our first three inches!

Last Friday we had our first three inches of snow!

I am sure someone froze there hands off right there.
The sun is sure lighting everything up!

some curious Cardinals are watching Sabrina as she spreads bird seed on the porch, and in front of our house.
